Dr. Sowmyashree Mayur Kaku (MBBS, PhD, Clinical Neurosciences – Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, NIMHANS) is a child and adolescent mental health specialist, clinician-scientist, and passionate advocate for child development. Her clinical expertise spans autism, ADHD, intellectual and developmental disabilities, learning difficulties, childhood anxiety and depression, behavioural concerns, and paediatric liaison psychiatry, where she supports children with complex medical and neurodevelopmental conditions through an integrated, family-centred approach. A committed researcher, Dr. Sowmyashree has received grants from the Indian Council of Medical Research, the International Brain Research Organization, and the Manipal Foundation, with a particular focus on the early identification of autism and neuroscience education. She has also conducted more than 500 workshops for parents, teachers, children, and professionals across India. Beyond medicine, she is an accomplished Bharatanatyam artiste recognised by Doordarshan and a trained Carnatic musician, reflecting her belief in nurturing both science and the arts in child development.
